Metformin XR Extended-Release Tablets contain metformin hydrochloride and are used in the management of type 2 diabetes, usually together with appropriate diet and exercise. Metformin helps control blood glucose levels and improves the body’s response to insulin. The extended-release formulation is generally administered once daily with the evening meal, with the dose adjusted gradually according to effectiveness and tolerance. The medicine is available in several strengths: • 500 mg extended-release tablet contains 500 mg metformin hydrochloride, equivalent to 390 mg metformin base. • 750 mg extended-release tablet contains 750 mg metformin hydrochloride, equivalent to 585 mg metformin base. • 1000 mg extended-release tablet contains 1000 mg metformin hydrochloride, equivalent to 780 mg metformin base.
